This 3-day course covers: • The nature of dyslexia • Phonology, reading and spelling • Memory • Mathematical challenges • Creating a positive classroom climate • Assessment and intervention programmes • Partnership with parents and pupils • Supporting literacy needs in the classroom • Exploration of resources to support children and young people with cognition and learning needs Specific session for those schools who wish to work towards the IDFS+ quality mark.
Refreshments will be available from 9.15am, the course will start at 9.30am. Lunch and resources will be provided. The cost covers up to two members of staff from the same school. It is essential that a senior leader is one of the members of staff attending the training sessions.

Course Objectives
This course aims to enable schools to:
• successfully include children and young people with cognition and learning needs and ensure positive outcomes for each individual child, • train their staff to have an understanding of the nature and implications of dyslexia and cognition and learning needs • provide staff with ideas to develop an inclusive and positive classroom climate, • use the IDFS+ standards as a framework to develop an action plan and ensure the above, • achieve the Inclusive, Dyslexia Friendly Schools+ Quality Mark.
