How does play develop in the early years and how can we support young children to progress in their play?
During this 90 minute online session we will explore the stages that young children will progress through before they are able to engage in co-operative role play with successful peer interaction.
How can we support and encourage the progression of children’s play and help parents to understand its unique and crucial role in children’s learning?
It would be useful to have the Development Matters document to hand to refer to during the session.
The course aims to:
- look at theories of play and how they influence our curriculum; - develop high quality interactions and enabling environments which encourage play; - look at the role of pretend play in the development of language and executive function; - develop ways to support parents’ understanding of the role of play in their child’s learning.
