Course Overview Our one day course has been designed to teach Foster Carers, Adoptive Parents and others in ‘Team around the Child’ techniques in Mindfulness.
The day will focus on looking at and practising simple Mindfulness techniques that will be useful when caring for or working with vulnerable children, enabling participants to learn how to develop a calm space for themselves.
Objectives Knowledge On successful completion of this course participants will: • Understand the Mindfulness techniques that will aid them when caring for children who have experienced trauma • Have learnt and developed skills that will enable them to re-shape the child’s daily routine, creating the space for a them to begin developing attachments, experience calmness and gain confidence in themselves and those caring for them • Understand the importance of taking time out for themselves in order to ‘be there’ for others.
Skills On successful completion of this course participants will: • Know how to encourage a general calmness with and around the child, which in itself has been proven to reduce challenging behaviour and enhance the child’s sense of well-being.
