Governor induction part one provides newly appointed governors with a broad introduction to the roles and responsibilities of governance.
The course also explores the governance setting in Cornwall, who’s who, where to access support and, most importantly, will cover the eight key elements of effective governance that should allow governors to have a positive impact from the outset.
It is advisable to bring the following, in order to get the most from the course:
- a meeting agenda - a set of meeting minutes - the most recent Ofsted report - the school improvement plan - terms of reference for committees - For academy governors – their scheme of delegation
You should be able to obtain copies of these documents from the Clerk to Governors or Headteacher.
Cost: No charge for local authority maintained schools or academies that have purchased the School Effectiveness Cornwall (SEC) SLA. £75.00 for those who have not purchased the SEC SLA
