These meetings are an informal opportunity to meet termly for advice and guidance with an Early Years Advisory Teacher with a focus on supporting children with English as an additional language.
The meeting also provides a loans system for borrowing bilingual books to lend to families and use in the setting. N.B. these are free of charge for early years settings.
At each session:
- Early Years Advisory Teachers will be available to support with advice, guidance and signposting on how best to support EAL children and families. - Early Years Advisory Teachers can support practitioners with guidance for arranging interpreted meetings with parents, which are particularly important at transition times. - Practitioners can borrow books from the session to support children and families with English as an additional language. Books can be borrowed on a termly basis and staff can book in to a session below for advice and/or to collect books.
