| Course Description |
Governor induction part two provides governors with an overview of the 8 elements of effective governance, the skills and knowledge to interpret pupil performance data and a clear strategy for undertaking strategic visits to the school that will drive school improvement.
It is only with a good knowledge of the school that governors can undertake their second key role of governance ‘Holding the senior leader to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils’.
No charge for local authority maintained schools or academies that have purchased the School Effectiveness Cornwall (SEC) SLA.
Zoom sessions - £60 for three sessions for those who have not purchased the SEC SLA.
Please note that for cancellations received less than 7 days before the start of the course a cancellation fee of £25.00 will be charged.

| Course Objectives |
The course aims to:
• Provide an overview of the 8 elements of effective governance
• Provide an understanding of data that will allow governors to know how well their pupils are performing
• Inform governors how to undertake effective, strategic visits that will allow them to monitor improvement progress
• Develop strategies to use the knowledge of the school to provide challenge to senior leaders in a positive manner that allows the school to improve.

Session two:7th June 2022- 1300-1500
• Knowing the school - Understanding school performance data
• School improvement plans
Session three: 8th June 2022 - 1300-1500
• Effective governor monitoring visits
