Venues will depend on the makeup of the group but will be in different outdoor locations across Cornwall.
Structure of programme:
- 4 day training programme: - Action plan based on experience and training - Successful completion of logbook/portfolio - Half day assessment with your group of children in your outdoor environment
Content to include: - Safe management of outdoor learning - Using your school grounds / settings - Curriculum links, numeracy, literacy - Personal and social development - Firelighting, bush craft and cooking
Who can attend: Practitioners with an interest in using the outdoors to enhance and enrich young people's learning.

The new team of curriculum advisors at Cornwall Council are providing a range of curriculum-based seminars aimed at senior and middle leaders that will support professional development and school improvement.
The short online seminars are designed to provide an insight into key areas of curriculum development that can be further supported by the curriculum advisors working directly with your school to provide a bespoke package.
• Each seminar is distinct in itself but forms part of an overall picture of curriculum intent, implementation and impact. • The online seminars will provide information, facilitate access to resources and an opportunity for teachers to share and reflect on their practice. • Pre and post tasks will support the online seminar and help you to develop your practice.
The online seminar will cover: Seminar 3: ‘Welcome to the pleasure dome’: Impactful strategies to create an empowering learning environment and maximise learning. • How to maximise the school environment to establish a self-motivated, self-supporting class. • How to foster the values and relationships which underbed an effective learning community. • How intelligent curriculum design maximises learning and raises outcomes.

The course also explores the governance setting in Cornwall, who’s who, where to access support and, most importantly, will cover the three core responsibilities of governance. • Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction • Holding executive leaders to account for the educational performance of the organisation and its pupils, and the performance management of staff • Overseeing the financial performance of the organisation and making sure its money is well spent.
Cost: No charge for local authority maintained schools or academies that have purchased the School Effectiveness Cornwall (SEC) SLA. Face to face session - £75.00 for those who have not purchased the SEC SLA. Zoom sessions - £60 for three sessions for those who have not purchased the SEC SLA. Please note that for cancellations received less than 7 days before the start of the course a cancellation fee of £25.00 will be charged.
