Course Overview The Clinical Psychology & Therapy Service have completely redesigned their four attachment training's to incorporate the latest research/ theory and to embed developmental trauma into the modules. This module follows on from Attachment & Developmental Trauma Module 1: Introduction and Module 2: Regulate which must be completed first.
Attachment & Developmental Trauma Module 3 sets out to help participants understand how early adverse experiences impact on a person’s ability to relate safely to others and manage their emotions. It incorporates ideas from attachment, trauma, Dan Hughes’ PACE model and addresses the themes of shame and re-enactments of past traumatic events. Module 3 also looks at the potential impact of supporting those with attachment difficulties/ developmental trauma on those who care, considering blocked care and secondary trauma.
A crucial part of forming a safe relationship with others is through participants providing a secure attachment experience. To do this well, participants are encouraged to reflect on their own relationship experiences. Facilitators will create a place of safety to do this, however participants will need to attend to their own emotional well-being throughout the day.
