Accredited by Cache, this 12 day Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) qualification (https://nasen.org.uk/training-and-cpd/early-years/accredited-early-years-senco-award.html) is a new and highly respected, nationally recognised programme that we are delighted to now offer in Cornwall. The qualification may be awarded at level 3 and is for practitioners working within private, voluntary and independent settings (PVI’s), childminders and school nurseries. All education providers are required to have arrangements in place to identify and support children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and to promote equality of opportunity for children in their care. The qualification is designed for those already working in a SENCO role as part of their job role, or those who are interested in doing so. The programme may be eligible for financial support. Steps to Success for high-tech Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) |  |

A virtual course run over 3 x 1 hour sessions, across 3 days, that supports parents/carers and professionals supporting children who need to use high-tech aided communication. The course enables parents/carers and professionals to support the young person successfully as they begin to use a high-tech communication aid. Parents/carers and professionals who have attended the course have reported that they feel more confident in supporting the young person after attending the course.
Trainers are: Sharon Rix (Cornwall Council) and Jennifer Davies (NHS), Cornwall AAC Assessment Team.
Course Dates are: Wednesday 15th, 22nd and 29th June 2022 Course Time: 13.30 - 14.30
Attendance is needed at all sessions. Only open to those adults supporting a child or young person who has been loaned equipment through Cornwall AAC Assessment Team.

The team of curriculum advisors at Cornwall Council are providing a range of curriculum-based seminars aimed at senior and middle leaders that will support professional development and school improvement.
The short online seminars are designed to provide an insight into key areas of curriculum development that can be further supported by the curriculum advisors working directly with your school to provide a bespoke package.
• Each seminar is distinct in itself but forms part of an overall picture of curriculum intent, implementation and impact. • The online seminars will provide information, facilitate access to resources and an opportunity for teachers to share and reflect on their practice. • Pre and post tasks will support the online seminar and help you to develop your practice.

This webinar follows on from the Kate Cairns Associates online e-learning: The role of the early years SENCO (Course EYFS13) and will explore the identification and referral process to the Early Years Service. This will include assess, plan, do, review paperwork and the graduated response for supporting children with special educational needs in Cornwall. We will also share information about the early support team around the child (TAC) process.
