The new team of curriculum advisors at Cornwall Council are providing a range of curriculum-based seminars aimed at senior and middle leaders that will support professional development and school improvement.
The short online seminars are designed to provide an insight into key areas of curriculum development that can be further supported by the curriculum advisors working directly with your school to provide a bespoke package.
• Each seminar is distinct in itself but forms part of an overall picture of curriculum intent, implementation and impact. • The online seminars will provide information, facilitate access to resources and an opportunity for teachers to share and reflect on their practice. • Pre and post tasks will support the online seminar and help you to develop your practice.
The online seminar will cover: Seminar 2: ‘Captain, my Captain’: Effective Leadership to Support Implementation of the Curriculum
• Identify the roles and responsibilities of senior and subject leaders within the Ofsted context. • Reflect on the role of subject communities to support development of curriculum thinkers. • How to implement effective monitoring of your subject

|  | Basic safeguarding children training (previously known as level 2) |  |

For education staff it is a statutory requirement. This training must be completed before accessing multi agency training through the Safeguarding Children Partnership. This is interactive training which will provide those attending with key information to ensure they are clear about their duties and responsibility to safeguard children. The content will include:
- Dealing with a disclosure - Signs and indicators - What is safeguarding? Roles and responsibilities, legislation, relevant mandatory guidance - Personal and professional thresholds - Keeping yourself safe - Managing allegations against staff including whistle blowing - Key safeguarding issues (child sexual exploitation, female genital mutilation, radicalisation) - Information sharing, record keeping and confidentiality - Making a referral |  |  |  | | Course closed to new requests | Full Details | Print Course | |  |

This training is a refresher course for those who have already attended level 3 multi agency training as recommended by the Safeguarding Children Partnership. It will look specifically at safeguarding from an education perspective with a focus on Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) September 2020 and will also include relevant national and local updates.
The course can be used as an annual update for designated and deputy designated safeguarding leads as outlined in KCSIE September 2020 (Page 93).
