This two-day assessment is for those who have completed the related training course. It assesses the candidate's ability to lead groups walking and camping in summer conditions on open moorland. The practical element of the course will involve a moorland walk with an overnight camp, during which delegates will have to navigate competently in poor visibility, and organise and manage a group camping in a remote location. They will also be required to complete a written paper as part of the assessment.
This course is a prerequisite for those who are leading groups on Ten Tors and Gold Duke of Edinburgh expeditions.
