It can also be a creative area of learning and this course will explore how we can effectively build on children’s mathematical curiosity by offering active and playful learning experiences in order to grow children’s mathematical thinking.
This course will consider the ‘big ideas’ that form the foundations of mathematics. It will explore how practitioners can create a playful mathematical environment, and involve parents, to recognise and respond to these ideas. Through activities, games and routines indoors and out, this course will consider how we can teach children most effectively in order that they develop firm mathematical foundations in a way that is engaging, and appropriate for their age.
