Aimed at: New governors and governors who would like a refresher
**It is recommended that a period of at least one term be allowed between you attending GOV1 and GOV2 governor training. Please note that you need to have attended GOV1 prior to attending GOV2**
Governor induction part two provides governors with the skills and knowledge to interpret pupil performance data and a clear strategy for undertaking strategic visits to the school that will drive school improvement.
It is only with a good knowledge of the school that governors can undertake their second key role of governance ‘Holding the senior leader to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils’.
In order to utilise this session effectively, it would be helpful to bring the following documents with you on the day:
- any information you have about your school's results in 2017; e.g. your school's IDSR (Inspection Data Summary Report) together with your schools 2018 Data results or headlines - a copy of your school's SEF (Self Evaluation Form); - a copy of your school's current SIP (School Improvement Plan) / SDP (School Development Plan), or at least the school’s current priorities. - a set of meeting minutes. -Three (if available) copies of recent governor monitoring visits. - Copy of your Headteachers report to Governors
The documents will be obtainable from your Headteacher or Clerk to Governors.
Cost: No charge for local authority maintained schools or academies that have purchased the School Effectiveness Cornwall (SEC) SLA. £75.00 for those who have not purchased the SEC SLA
Please note that for cancellations received less than 7 days before the start of the course a cancellation fee of £25.00 will be charged.
